Kiwanis beach
In 2018, the Kiwanis Club, in collaboration with the City of Rouyn-Noranda and Agnico Eagle, launched a signage project aimed at improving visibility for Kiwanis Beach. This popular recreational area, known for its free lakeside activities, deserved signage that matched its strong community identity. The goal: to design a distinctive, environmentally respectful pylon that would guide and inform visitors while blending seamlessly into the site’s sensitive natural landscape. The result is a structure that is durable, aesthetic, and responsible, enhancing the site’s visibility and clearly affirming its identity.

Non-Illuminated Pylon
The pylon sign project for Kiwanis Beach was envisioned with a focus on sustainable development and community value. In addition to improving visibility for this free-access recreation area, the initiative aimed to create a clear, attractive visual landmark that would not disrupt the site’s ecological balance.
To protect the lakeside environment, the Reflecteur team chose a helical pile anchoring system. This method avoids the use of concrete or deep excavation, significantly reducing the impact on wetland banks. It also ensures long-term stability, crucial for a structure exposed to weather and natural soil movement.
The pylon is built from painted aluminum, a material selected for its weather resistance and lightweight properties. Its design features muted colors and a slim silhouette that fits naturally into the surroundings. The logo and lettering, cut from 1″ thick PVC, are finished with care to ensure long-lasting readability.
To enhance visibility, especially at night or in poor weather, parts of the sign incorporate reflective vinyl, compliant with road safety standards. This ensures it can be easily spotted by both drivers and pedestrians in the area.
A flagpole was added to the structure, introducing visual movement and a symbolic element that echoes the site’s vibrant and welcoming spirit. This unique touch gives the sign a strong presence while enriching the site’s identity.
The installation was carried out methodically as a turnkey project. From design to installation, including helical pile anchoring, each step was planned to ensure flawless execution. The result is a reliable, durable, and environmentally friendly sign that meets modern signage needs while respecting the natural setting of the beach.
This project is a great example of modern, inclusive, and eco-conscious signage. Thanks to this initiative, Kiwanis Beach now enjoys a stronger visual identity and greater visibility, reinforcing its status as a beloved community gathering and relaxation spot.
